FAQ

HOW GOOD IS TCC BEEF?

Typically our beef grades at prime or choice, the top two grades of beef available that you would receive in a nice restaurant. We deliver that same quality beef directly to you; at a lower price than the cost you’d pay in a nice restaurant.

HOW DO I GET TCC BEEF?

Place your order on our website.  You can get TCC beef in 3 ways:

1. We ship smaller packs of beef directly to your doorstep! Your beef will arrive frozen and ready to throw into your freezer for future meals!

2. We have local pickups that are scheduled out for each month in Meridian & Eagle. You can locate those details under the 'Pickup & Shipping' tab at the top of our website.

3. You can order a beef share in 1/4, 1/2 or whole beef sizes. Your beef share will be picked up directly from us at the Meridian Park and Ride (3047 W Overland Rd, Meridian, ID). Pickup is typically the last Wednesday of the month from 4-6pm. You will get this date as soon as your deposit is placed, or feel free to reach out to us if you need to know before placing your deposit.

WHAT CUTS OF MEAT WILL I GET IF I ORDER A BEEF SHARE?

That’s up to you.  We want the package count and cuts to work for you and your family. You can choose how many steaks per package, how thick, etc.

If you choose ¼ beef, it is a standard set of cuts so that we can split 1/2 beef evenly between two customers. If you order ½  beef or more, you get to choose your cuts and talk with the butcher directly about what you want.

If there are requests for really specialized cuts or items, there may be a small upcharge that you would be responsible to cover beyond the cost per lb paid to TCC.

All shares will include ground beef, roasts, premium steaks, middle of the road steaks and an assortment of limited cuts like tri tip or flank steak.

HOW MUCH ARE YOUR BEEF SHARES?

The cost of our beef shares varies with each animal we butcher.  The costs below are based on our most recent harvest but every animal will vary and your cost could be higher or lower than those shown below.

1/4 beef average:

Vacuum seal: 187.50 lbs. x $6.00 = $1,125 + Idaho Sales Tax

1/2 beef average:

Vacuum seal: 375 lbs. x $5.75 = $2,156.25 + Idaho Sales Tax

Whole beef average:

Vacuum seal: 750 lbs. x $5.75 = $4,312.50 + Idaho Sales Tax

CAN I MAKE PAYMENTS FOR MY BEEF SHARE?

Yes! We're happy to set up payments arrangements that work for you. Many customers prefer to pay in a lump sum just before pickup but we also have many customers that pay $150 - $250 each pay period so they reduce that lump sum due at the end.

The $250 or $500 deposit is applied to the total due.

Just email us at service@thomascattlecompany.com or place your deposit order and add notes that you'd like to setup a payment plan.

HOW LONG CAN I FREEZE MY BEEF SHARE ONCE I GET IT?

Vacuum Seal: 1 – 2 years

WHAT’S IN THE FEED YOU GIVE YOUR HERD?

For 85% of the life of our beef, they graze feed in the Owyhee Mountains and our ranches in southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon.  The cows and calves head up the mountains in March and then in October and November of each year, we are moving them back down the mountains to our homeplace in Oreana, ID.

For the last 120-150 days of their life, our cattle are fed a ration of grass and alfalfa, with a side of corn, all grown locally in our local valley. Finishing with grain  provides superior marbling, tenderness and rich taste in TCC all natural beef.

Your purchase is not only supporting our ranch family but also the farm families that raise the feed we finish our all-natural beef on.

WHERE IS OREANA, IDAHO?

Oreana, Idaho is a small farm and ranch community located one hour and twenty minutes southeast of Boise, Idaho.  Our population sign says '7, sometimes 8' if that gives you any idea of how small it is.

Our nearest big towns are Nampa, ID or Mountain Home, ID, both being about 45 minutes away from the ranch.  We are squarely between Grand View, Idaho and Murphy, Idaho.

DO YOU USE THE mRNA VACCINE?

There are ZERO ranchers in the US currently using mRNA in their beef. That’s because there are no vaccines approved for use in beef cattle that use mRNA technology.

While this is a hotly contested conversation, the silver lining is that consumers are able to ask these questions directly to their ranchers. When you go direct, you get direct access to ask questions, learn and find out more from those that are producing your beef.

Our goal at Thomas Cattle Company is to provide you quality beef that you can count on. We are certified all natural by third parties, meaning no added hormones or antibiotics are used.
